Why choose this walk

It connects the cultural visit of the surroundings of the Prado with the walk through Huertas and the Barrio de las Letras. So you can alternate a museum, if you choose it, with a neighbourhood experience without having to chain tickets.

Make the tour at your own pace. The gastronomic stops are optional and the consumption is paid in each establishment.

Who this walk is for

For those looking for art, streets with history and a gastronomic pause.

What you’ll discover

  1. 01 · Museo Nacional del Prado

The great Spanish gallery brings together essential works by Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Rubens and El Bosco. A short and planned selection works better than trying to cover the entire collection.

  2. 02 · Calle de las Huertas

This pedestrian axis introduces the Barrio de las Letras between quotations recorded on the pavement, historical buildings and streets linked to literary Madrid.

  3. 03 · Plaza de Santa Ana

A pedestrian square linked to theatre and literature, presided by the figures of Calderón de la Barca and Federico García Lorca in front of the Spanish Theatre.

Before you leave

Wear comfortable shoes, water and battery. Check schedules, reservations and possible closures before you move. Entrances to monuments and consumptions are paid separately; walking along the route does not include those purchases.

If you are going to enter the museum, reserve an independent time block. The walk in the neighbourhood can be done sooner or later, without turning each stop into an obligation.
