Toledo day trip from Madrid
Discover Toledo in one day from Madrid, with stone streets, El Greco and views of the Tagus. Plan your train from Atocha, the walk into the old town and a relaxed lunch, leaving time for the return journey.
Why visit Toledo on a day trip?
Choose Toledo for art, places of worship and a walk through historic streets. Combine outdoor sights with the interiors that interest you most; allow time for hills and the journey back to the station.
The walk, at a glance: Plaza de Zocodover → Alcázar · Museo del Ejército → Catedral Primada → Santo Tomé → Santa María la Blanca → San Juan de los Reyes.
A city with history
Toledo preserves layers of Roman history, the Visigoth kingdom, and Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions. It was the Visigoth capital and a major artistic centre during the Renaissance. Its historic city has been a World Heritage Site since 1986. This walk explores those layers without reducing centuries of history to a single postcard.

The tourist wristband costs €14 for seven monuments; individual admission costs €4. It becomes worthwhile from four included visits. Buy online or at any of the seven monuments, exchange the voucher for the wristband and wear it. Its published validity is seven days from purchase, with one visit per monument and no queue priority. It does not include the Cathedral, Alcázar, Museo del Greco or Museo Sefardí. This walk includes only three of its monuments, so we do not automatically recommend buying it.
